Strategic diagnosis and evaluation of the operational efficiency of Holcim Ecuador s.a.: impact on competitiveness and sustainable development in the construction sector

The financial analysis of Holcim Ecuador S.A. is justified by the relevance of the construction materials sector in national economic development and the need to assess the sustainability and efficiency of its leading companies. The objective of this study was to examine the company’s financial position and economic performance during 2023 and 2024, identifying variations in assets, liabilities, equity, and results.
A descriptive and documentary methodology was applied, based on the review of the company’s comparative financial statements. Vertical and horizontal analyses were conducted, along with financial ratios related to liquidity, profitability, activity, and leverage. The sample consisted of the Statement of Financial Position and the Statement of Comprehensive Income for the analyzed periods.
The results showed a 5.22% decrease in net sales, alongside a 10.95% reduction in cost of sales, leading to a 3.51% increase in gross profit and an 8.67% growth in net income. Debt levels remained stable and liquidity indicators showed slight improvement.
It is concluded that the company maintains a balanced financial structure and improved operational efficiency, although optimizing investment returns remains a key challenge to strengthen competitiveness.
