To systematically analyze how strategic financial planning influences the profitability and sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines, using a structured search in scientific databases such as SCOPUS, SciELO, Google Scholar, and Web of Science. Research related to strategic financial planning, business sustainability, budget control, financial analysis, and economic performance in SMEs was selected. The main outcomes that were assessed during the research included profitability, liquidity, business growth, financial resilience, organizational sustainability, and competitiveness.
The study identified that SMEs that implement financial planning exhibit greater economic stability, improved adaptability to economic instability, and significantly enhanced organizational sustainability. The most effective strategies were the implementation of structured budgets, cash flow projections, financial analysis, and strategic risk management, as these strategies demonstrated positive results with excellent indicators of profitability, liquidity, and business growth.
Strategic financial planning has become a fundamental strategy for strengthening the profitability, sustainability, and stability of small and medium-sized enterprises. Therefore, its implementation as a financial tool is essential, as is the use of supporting technologies tailored to the operational needs, administrative capabilities, and economic conditions of each company.
